Living Well and Traveling the World

Traveling can be one of life’s greatest challenges. Everyone wants to visit other lands in foreign countries and they want to explore parts of the world they’ve only ever dreamed of visiting. They might even have the money to do this – but what they lack is the actual planning and execution.

Planning a Vacation to Ireland

Irish CastlesWe always talked about visiting Ireland and Scotland because that’s where we both have roots. Not really family that we can speak of but bloodlines that go back several hundred years. The culture in those countries has not been dominated by outside influences like so many of us are used to in the West. The people who populate those countries are the original inhabitants going back as far as history allows us to look. So there is an heir of timelessness that we are anticipating will hit once we get there. It’s easy to look at buildings in cities in the US like Boston or DC that have historic monuments going back a few hundred years, but what about castles that are 1000 years old or older? This is what caused us to want to go to Ireland. And since we were there, we wanted to go to Scotland as well. And not to just arrive and do whatever we felt like doing for the day, we decided we wanted to include tours of the monuments and beautiful mountains. We didn’t want to do the driving or be put into a bus with a ton of other tourists so we decided to get help in planning our tour in luxury. Here’s what we did and how we got ready for our Ireland Castle Vacation.

  • Put the dates on the calendar
  • Contacted the airlines
  • Researched travel agencies who offered travel in luxury
  • Got our passports
  • Purchased necessary travel gear
  • Requested the time off from work
  • Purchased the airline tickets after confirming dates with the travel agency
  • Started researching the land, watching youtube videos and movies that focused on Ireland and Scotland
  • Got ourselves excited about the trip
  • Planned for the kids to stay at grandmas during our vacation

These are the things that helped us to actually go to Ireland to see the castles and view all the local scenes with a chauffeured tour of both Ireland and Scotland. We got to see everything we dreamed of, we visited monuments, went golfing, fishing and enjoyed some wonderful nightlife while in Dublin and met some amazing people who we’re connected with on Facebook now. It was a great memory for us and recharged our marriage and relationship.

If you are interested in visiting another country, which I’m sure you are, then get on the ball and put it on the calendar. That’s the first step then the rest will follow!
